with the help of eBay? According to a new survey conducted on
July 2005 by ACNielsen, a leading research firm, an astounding
724 thousand Americans respond that they rely on eBay for their
main or supplemental income. Apart from these professional
sellers, another 1.5 million people confirmed that they generate
additional income by selling goods on eBay. Last year alone,
around 150 million registered users have sold over US$ 34 billion
worth of goods on eBay. Isn’t it amazing?

Why entrepreneurs are flocking into eBay? Some of the reasons are
quite apparent.

• Starting a business on eBay is easy and quick

• You don’t require large investment

• Anybody can start an eBay business, no special skill is require

• You can sell virtually anything on eBay

• With your eBay business you can have flexible work time

• You have a ready-made market of over 150 million people and
counting

• eBay get 1.5 billion page views each month. You get access to

What to sell?

According to Forrester Research, a major research company, this
year, categories with products purchased by women will have the
most growth in online retailing. Some categories are already
getting more than ten percent of their overall sales through the
Internet, which include: computer hardware and software, tickets,
travel, books, consumer electronics, cosmetics and fragrances,
toys and video games, and flowers, cards and gifts. While
choosing items to sell on eBay, you should also explore the
features available on eBay and other places on the Internet that
show items people search and items people actually buy.

delivering utmost information to help you succeed in selling

When you go to the subsection ‘What’s Hot’, check out the
following three areas:

Hot Items by Category

This is a comprehensive report of categories, and products within
a category by the ratio of bid to listings growth rate in PDF
format. The report gets updated monthly and shows which products
have increased demand in comparison to last month. Super hot
products, for example, have over 35 percentage point difference
between bid growth rate and listing growth rate. According to the
latest report, by the way, Sunglasses for men, in particular
Prada sunglasses are super hot.

eBay Pulse

This is another area where you can see the top ten searched
categories, ten most widely watched auctions, list of stores with
most active listings, and other cool stuffs on daily basis.

eBay Summer Catalog

This is a new subsection. It’s a real catalog with pictures and
average price of products. In each category of products there is
a list of top ten summer trends. You, definitely, should check
this out if you are planning to start selling now.

In Demand

On the page “Category Tips” under each category you will see a
link under the name “In Demand”. This area will show you a list
of ten most sold items of this category as well as most searched
items for each subcategory.

You might also like to see what people buy on non-eBay part of
the Internet. The Shopping.com Consumer Demand Index (CDI)
(http://www.shopping.com/CDI/cdi.cmp) makes a weekly list of
most sought after items. This list could give you the needed
glimpse to the future market trend!

Where to find items to sell on eBay

Your own home

If you are just planning to start selling on eBay, your first
option is to go through your attic, closets and garage. Find
those long stashed items that you will probably never need. These
may include: books that you will perhaps never read, CDs that you
out grew, gifts that you received but did not like much, the list
can go on! Take them out, brush them off and post them on eBay
for sell.

Flea markets and garage sales

Every body knows that garage sales and flea markets can be real
treasure troves! Well, now you can look at them from a business
point of view. Your sales experience with own home items,

WHY Our wholesale directory is different than any other online directories ??

I did not put alot of advertisement effort on this blog. All this information is almost a secret, so you'll have less competition. Other online wholesale directories spend major $$ in advertising to make it more visible. (means you have alot more competition if you go by them)

Most of the time they only list a company that registered to advertise with them. And most of the deals are with the smaller company that are not registered online (they are not spending alot of money on advertising so you can get their bottom price.

I DO not list their phone number yet at this moment. I will keep in mind to get more detail information on each company in the future.

Achieving Wholesale Success: 10 Tips For Getting Started

Whether you are just thinking about, or you have decided that you would like to start running a wholesale business, there are a number of items that you should spend considerable time planning and researching before going full steam ahead. Proper planning and fact-finding up-front can not only save you from a lot of headaches in the beginning, but can also mean the difference between a successful wholesale business versus a monetary disaster waiting to happen.

In this article we will provide you with ten tips to help guide you along the way as you begin planning for your business. They are presented in chronological order so that you can use them as a way to plan out the proper steps along the way. Remember, success depends on many factors – and the most important factor is your determination and energy you put into making your business a success!

Step 1: Ask Yourself Why?

Why do you want to get into the wholesaling business? It is because you would enjoy working with other businesses and manufacturers being the main point of contact between the two? Or is it because you think it is an easy way to make money quick?

Wholesaling is a demanding business, and can require lots of up-front capital, warehousing, logistics planning and customer service skills. As the main channel between the manufacturer and retailers you may find yourself dealing with hundreds of thousands of units of merchandise needing to be shipped across the country on a moments notice. Large retailers often pay on a Net-10 or Net-30 schedule, meaning payment is made after the goods are delivered. What would you do if a retailer did not pay or went bankrupt before you received payment?

Step 2: Study Your Competition

It does no good to enter a market where there already exist established, credible wholesalers for a given product. Retailers want to know they have a dependable supply source that meets their terms and often will not change wholesalers for an established product. Just because you build the warehouse does not mean they will come.

Use your local Chamber of Commerce, the Internet and even visit with retailers to find out what wholesalers exist in your area. If you want to specialize in a specific product, contact the manufacturer directly to find out who handles wholesaling for them already in your region. There may be none in your state, or there could be three down the street.

Step 3: Assess your Financial Situation

Wholesaling can require a lot of up-front capital and expenditures before you even see one cent of income. Do you have the resources to spend on setting up a relationship with a manufacturer who will most likely require you to buy in huge quantities from them? Can you afford to wait up to 30 days for payment? Do you have the money to invest in shipping freight or setting up your own delivery service?

Be sure to look past the startup costs as well. Employees, taxes, property rental and insurance are just a few of the things you will need to factor in as ongoing costs.

Step 4: The Business Plan

A solid business plan is the foundation of any business. You need to make sure that you have spelled out what you intend to do and how you intend to get it done. Not only will banks require this for financing, but often other businesses you deal with will want to see it as well. It should be the guidelines that you follow every day in your business to achieve the goals you have set forth.

For this part, it is often wise to work with a business lawyer or seek professional advice from business consulting services. A good resource to help you find people in your area with the necessary skills and background is the Small Business Administration, located on the web at http://www.sba.gov.

Step 5: Apply for Licenses, Taxing Certificates and Other Necessary Paperwork

Nothing is as certain as death and taxes. It is no different in business, with one exception. As a wholesaler you will be required to pay taxes and other fees to your state and to the federal government.

The one exception is that you will be granted tax-exempt status for the actual goods you are moving between the manufacturer and other retailers. This can be a tricky process and is handled at the state level.

Again, for this part you will want to make extensive use of your state taxing authority as well as local Chambers of Commerce. One wrong mistake here can end up costing you not only money, but possible your entire business.

Step 6: Establish Your Facilities

Location, location, location. Businesses must exist somewhere and like most things in life there are rules and regulations on where they can be. Will you be having semi-trailers coming to your location at all hours of the day and night? Will you have a storefront for vendors and clients to come calling at? What about electrical, water and sewage needs?

Zoning laws exist to make sure that the right structures end up in the right places. Nobody wants a warehouse next door to them in a residential neighborhood. Work with commercial real-estate agencies to find a suitable place for your business.

Step 7: Establish Your Relationships
You have the facilities, you have the financials – now do you have anyone supplying you product or customers for that product? Work with manufacturers and retailers to build a relationship. This can be one of the most difficult parts of the experience, and is where the rubber hits the road.

In addition, relationships extend beyond your customers and suppliers. It is good practice to establish relations with your local Chamber of Commerce, retail associations and labor organizations in your area.

Step 8: Marketing

Wholesalers traditionally don’t advertise. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t market your business to others, after all how can you build relationships or expand on existing ones? Product is coming in, retailers are placing orders – we’re all done right? Not exactly. Getting the product to your customers, answering questions about delivery timelines, working with vendors to obtain new product lines, it is a complex and demanding part of the business.

In today’s “just in time” marketing model a delay in shipment could mean the end to a business relationship. You must keep your customers informed of any status changes, pricing concerns and product movements from your facility to their loading dock. This is where backend systems come into play by maintaining records and logs of all activity with that customer. Do not underestimate the value of a good Customer Relationship Management system (CRM).

Step 10: Employees, Accounts Receivable and Other Financial Matters

Once everything is up and running your next focus is your business financials. Employees need to be hired and fired. Payroll needs to be met. Money must come in, and money must go out. Here you should invest in financial talent and services if you do not possess them already.

One oversight can mean the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars; a missed payroll deadline could mean your entire business comes to a halt. It is critical that you constantly keep an eye on the books and on your expenditures. Know when to tighten the belt, and know when to expand.

Buying products from a wholesaler for the first time can be a daunting process. To help you get off to a good start, here are some wholesale buying tips - straight from a wholesaler - to help you get the best possible deals for your new business!

1. Research the products you want to buy.

Firstly, you will come across to your supplier as being a far more professional & serious buyer, than someone who obviously doesn't have a good knowledge of the products they want to buy. If you come across as a professional, you will gain the wholesaler's respect, & if they respect you, you are far more likely to be given special deals/pricing.

Secondly, as a retailer, you really should have an excellent knowledge of the product you are selling to your customers anyway. You need to be able to answer almost any question a potential customer may throw at you!

2. Have your relevant business/tax ID information at hand.

If you are purchasing from a wholesaler, in your own country, the majority of them will require, that you have certain relevant business registrations/tax I.D. When purchasing from a wholesaler, not in your own country, there will most likely not be any business registrations/tax I.D.'s that you have to provide. Check with your local tax office or government business authority to find out the requirements for your country.

3. Make the first contact a phone call.

Try to make your first contact with your chosen wholesaler by phone, or if they are in your area, maybe even stop in at their offices. There is nothing to stop you sending an enquiry via their website or email for starters, however there are a few potential problems with this method of contact.

Spam (unrequested, junk email) is a big problem these days, & there is a risk, that your email, may inadvertently become mixed up with their spam, & deleted from their inbox, without them even reading it.
There are many people, out surfing on the net, who may see a product they like on a wholesaler's website, & decide to see if they can buy it cheaper than the retail stores, straight from the wholesaler, either from themselves, or to make a quick buck. They have no registered business, or any intention of creating a long term buying relationship with the wholesaler. This is something that wholesalers aren't too keen on, & it may be difficult for them to tell the difference between your genuine request for information, & the tyre kickers.

4. Have references ready, if possible.

It isn't uncommon for a wholesaler to request a couple of references from other wholesalers you have dealt with before. This of course may not be possible if you are buying for the first time, so you can usually overcome this by offering to pay up front for your first few orders.

5. Ask for discounts for large orders.

In general, the larger the order you are able to place, the cheaper you will be able to get the items. Wholesalers deal in larger quantities of stock than retailers, so the quicker they can move it, the less warehouse space it is taking up, & the less they have to handle it (breaking it up into smaller order quantities), the more money they save.

6. Ask if they've got any merchandise that's taking a while to move.

Wholesalers deal in large quantities of stock that they like to keep moving as quickly as possible. If they have some stock that's taking a while to sell, you may be able to negotiate a deal, where you can purchase the remaining stock at a ridiculously cheap price. Just make sure that you will be able to sell the stock - if there's no longer a market for a product, it doesn't matter how cheap you can sell it at, you won't make any money!

7. If you find a good wholesaler, try & stick with them.

You will have got to know them well enough to know they are going to deliver your items on time, provide good quality products, & you will most likely have established a good credit relationship with them - something that can take a while to develop with a new supplier.
A good wholesaler will know that it is far easier & cheaper to keep existing customers, than have to go out & find new ones. If you can show to your supplier, that you are going to buy regular amounts each month, & pay your accounts on time, you should be able to negotiate a small discount on your purchases in return for your continual business.
